It’s a strange feeling when a portrait leaves the studio and goes to its new home. Not exactly like a child leaving home, but close. You have looked into the eyes of the sitter long enough to feel that you know them intimately. Kelly went to her new home today. Her parents were pleased with the painting, so I’m happy for that. I really wanted to look into the colors of the painting one more time before it went out the door. A photo just never does the color justice, and the beautiful colors that worked their way into the light on Kelly’s face were lovely….all the colors of the rainbow…not just some generic flesh tone. I’ll have to just rely on memory now that she’s gone. Kelly, it was a real pleasure to paint your portrait.
