2-Day Georgetown Workshop in December

2-Day Georgetown Workshop in December

After all the Thanksgiving hustle and bustle is over and before the Christmas rush begins, give yourself a much needed artistic retreat. I’ll be teaching a two-day workshop in a quaint little town right outside of Austin, Texas. Georgetown has it all; great restaurants, numerous antique shops and the best cappuccino I have ever tasted. Oh, but you probably want to know about the workshop. Read more…

“Liz” Wins Award at New York Exhibition

“Liz” Wins Award at New York Exhibition

What fun to be in New York getting an award at the National Arts Club from the President of the Pastel Society of America, Jimmy Wright.

Accepting Award from Jimmy Wright

The PSA hosts its Enduring Brilliance Exhibition each year at the National Arts Club in New York and it’s a great excuse to visit Manhattan and see a few Broadway plays. My pastel painting, Liz, received the Allied Artists of America Award this year and was selected as one of twenty pieces from the exhibit to travel to The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. I’m so pleased that “Liz” is on the road and getting to be seen by a larger audience. If you’re in Ohio, December through February 2017, go check out the exhibit.

Many thanks to my little sister for making the trip fun and memorable. Here we are with our favorite building…The Flat Iron! Check out the red “No Standing Anytime” sign behind us…oops!

Fall 2016 Art Classes

Fall 2016 Art Classes

Announcing my Fall 2016 Art Classes beginning in August. A semester includes twelve, three-hour studio style classes where beginner to advanced artists may work in oil or soft pastel. Both a morning  class and an afternoon class are being offered. The morning class will study “Getting the Right Perspective”, where we will copy a master painting and tackle topics such as aerial and linear perspective to improve our depictions of the landscape. The afternoon class will have an open format where artists will bring in their current projects and receive on-going critiques aimed at improving their skills on the subjects they have chosen.

For more information on these classes follow the links below:
